Baby Austin

My wonderfully amazing friend had her second baby this spring. A very handsome boy, Austin. While our other kids were playing, I managed to get a couple of quick shots while the little man was happy for me too, turns out he’s quite the model.

An engagement teaser…

Last spring I had the opportunity to photograph Josh & Grace, this spring I was asked to shoot them again, but for their engagement! (We all knew it was heading that way) But seems as the invitations haven’t gone out yet, I can only give you a little teaser, so watch this space…

Muchos Baby Portraits

Before Christmas, people are obviously thinking about buying presents for loved ones. I’ve been very fortunate that so many people have thought to give portraits to grandparents and such this year as I’ve been asked to take the photos. I’ve come a long way with this since I first returned to the camera, and still have a long way to go, but I’m very grateful I’ve had so many willing happy babies to photograph for some good experience. Here’s some of the cuties I shot before christmas…

A Special Shoot for Baby Evie

When my husband and I first met our friend’s new baby Evie, he was completely besotted. I was scared for a moment he was going to suggest having another baby. Which just shows how special this little girl is. She’s had a rough start in life. She has spent a lot of time in hospital and has already had several operations. Luckily for her, she has a wonderfully supportive family. Her mum, Penny asked me to come take some shots when she was about 8 weeks old (sorry Penny if I got that wrong) She’s such a pleasant little baby for having been through so much already, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity I might have to shoot her again 🙂

How to celebrate your 10th anniversary…

abi pegg photography

I was so excited when my friend Venishia asked me about this shoot. She and her husband Rob were married 10 years ago in august and she wanted to celebrate with a family photo shoot – with a twist. There was one goal in mind for this shoot, provide photo evidence of Venishia reaching her target of fitting back in her wedding dress by their 10th anniversary. So really it was a trash the dress shoot! Love it!

They have four amazing boys and we got to have some fun with some props at Sutton Scarsdale Hall. Rob and Venishia said they felt so shell shocked on their wedding day they didnt get to enjoy the photos and don’t really have any they like, so what a great way to make new memories.  It was an amazing day to be part of and I’m completely stealing the idea for my 10th anniversary next year.

A shoot for a family from the other side of the world…

Several years ago my cousin Ruth, married and moved to america. Since then, she has had two lovely girls. Finally, she bought her new family over to visit for the first time. She asked me if I could possibly sneak a photo shoot in to their schedule when visiting, as (being so loyal) she loves my photos and hadn’t been able to find anyone else in america she liked to capture her family. Flattery will get you everywhere Ruth! So before the entire family came over for a barbecue we headed off to the brampton park in newcastle under lyme, where we used to play in as kids for the shoot. It’s very fortunate I have experience in shooting toddlers at high speed as Olivia was a loose canon. It was an absolute pleasure to shoot them and some of the most fun I’ve had doing a family shoot. We got a million shots, but here, as always, are my very favourites…

The Walshaw trio

At the beginning of July our family went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park with our good friends for the afternoon. I’d taken my camera along in the hopes that in between chasing my kids around I might get some nice shots of the day, ambitious, I know. Luckily towards the end of them running out of energy I was able to snap a few of gorgeous little Rory (my son Zach’s partner in crime) along with some nice family shots with her mum and dad.

Baby Nathaniel

When I studied photography back in the day, it was with an ancient SLR (by todays standards anyway). You remember the kind, with the film where you had to develop it, then make your own prints. I think this is why I really enjoy editing as it reminds me of developing prints in the dark room. So when I got my first digital SLR it had been a while since I’d taken on a photography project. I had the chance to ask the lovely Laura from my home town if I could tag along at her wedding to practise, having a bit of fun with some shots. Now two years on, and with much more experience she asked me to photograph her brand new addition. Nathaniel loved watching the camera but also loved his mum a whole lot more, so we had to work fast and around him needing extra cuddles. Some of my favourite shots were when Tom (the dad) and Laura are trying to calm him, and are laughing and talking with her sisters who were playing the audience at the side of the room, it’s shows them in real family life then! with a few posey ones thrown in of course…so heres a few…

My cousin had pointed out a blog to me the same day I did this shoot, of a lady that uses things around the house to make some awesome scenes to photograph her baby in, I couldn’t resist trying one out myself…

Paula’s pre-wed family shoot

This lovely lady works along side my Dad, and came across my work on one of the many occasions my Dad likes to show off my blog. I’m shooting her wedding in August, but first we got together at the beginning of June for an engagement shoot. Her two girls and future step son tagged along as well so we could mix in a bit a family portraiture! Paula and Mark’s reception will be at Haigh Hall in Wigan, and so this is where we went for the shoot.

A mini family shoot for Hannah

Hannah contacted me a couple of weeks ago wondering if I could take a few shots of her little family to give her Dad as a present for father’s day. Well I was very happy to help with that one, as I think photos are always perfect pressies! Hannah really likes spot colour effects so we played around with different shots where that would look good. We arranged a mini shoot at their home and I got to meet her gorgeous 5 month old son, Martell, who I think you’ll all agree, is completely gorgeous…
