I’ve been very fortunate with my photography, as most of my work comes through word of mouth and bridesmaids. Rachel was a bridesmaid for Lizzie’s wedding that I did back in april 2011, and Lizzie was a bridesmaid for Emma’s wedding back in 2010. So I’ve been very lucky that these girls saw me in action on the wedding, knew what I was like to work with and then booked me for their special day.
Rachel squeezed her wedding in between Christmas and New Year, so there was the added bonus of christmas lights everywhere. It was cold, but not too bad, and the weather held which I never complain at. They had their reception at Quarry Bank Mill in Manchester, which I believe is a national trust site. It’s unlike anywhere else I’ve shot before for a wedding and it was wonderfully refreshing to have something different to work with, I thoroughly enjoyed it (as I always do anyway). I asked Rachel after the honeymoon to write a little note to any engaged ladies that happen to look at this blog and impart any wisdom she has for the big day…
To a future bride
Firstly, if you haven’t decided whether to book Abi yet, book her! She isn’t just an amazing photographer but she makes the day run so smooth. We didn’t have to worry about getting guests together for photos. She made sure I was keeping to schedule. You would not find anyone more efficient (THANK YOU ABI). A tip for the day, it’s all out of your control so sit back and enjoy and remember why you’ve endured a number of breakdowns for months from planning a wedding…so you can marry the one! So try and focus on that. You have probably heard it many times before and I’m only 4 weeks in, but married life really is the best!
